First Moroccan at Sevilla: Fatima Tagnaout Joins Women’s Team

Moroccan international Fatima Tagnaout has signed with FC Sevilla for two seasons, the Andalusian club announced in a statement on Tuesday, July 23.

« Sevilla FC recruits a new offensive player until June 2026, thus becoming the first Moroccan footballer to wear the jersey of Sevilla’s first women’s team in its history, » reads the statement from the Spanish club.

The Atlas Lioness arrives from AS FAR, a club where she developed much of her sporting career. She thus becomes the first Moroccan woman to join Sevilla.

Both at the club and national team levels, Fatima Tagnaout has managed to stand out. She has won several club titles since 2016, while with the Moroccan senior team, she won the UNAF tournament in 2020, finished second in the Aisha Buhari Cup in 2021, and reached the round of 16 in the World Cup in 2022. Tagnaout has played 48 matches with the national team.
