Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi said human trafficking “is punishable by law and the perpetrators of these crimes will not be able to escape their punishment.” Likewise, the minister recalled the crucial role of the legislator in minimizing the impact of this crime, while warning of the danger represented by artificial intelligence.
During a speech during a meeting on the occasion of the communication day of the National Committee for Coordination of Actions to Combat and Prevent Human Trafficking on the occasion of the World Day to Combat this Crime in the As part of the “Blue Heart” campaign, the minister warned of the effects of this phenomenon which can be exported to social media platforms.
He thus underlined “the need to reconsider the concept of human trafficking, which is growing rapidly thanks to social media”.
According to him, “the concept of virtual human trafficking could appear tomorrow”, affirming that although the notion of trafficking in human beings is not absolute, but relative, it is defined according to precise texts.

The Minister of Justice warned that artificial intelligence could constitute a danger for victims since it is an ideal means of carrying out the ideas of the perpetrators of these crimes.
The minister added, referring to artificial intelligence, that “as much as it will serve the citizen, it will constitute for him the greatest threat in terms of psychological, personal and social security”.

The minister continued: “Human traffickers have unimaginable financial and logistical resources”, noting that “countries are obliged to strengthen their resources to deal with this phenomenon”.
Thus, he announced that from next year, his department will legally consider the offenses of trafficking in human beings, and will endeavor to build a legal framework on this subject.
