Morocco Launches Comprehensive Family Code Reform Under King Mohammed VI’s Leadership

Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi has confirmed that Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI, is undertaking a comprehensive review of the Family Code, with a clear political will to promote justice and equality within family structures.
Speaking Wednesday in Rabat at an international conference addressing the “Kadd and Saaya system” from legal and historical perspectives with experts from across the Arab world, Ouahbi emphasized that this reform reflects Morocco’s strong political commitment to adapt to social transformations while respecting the country’s religious foundations.
The minister stressed that addressing such sensitive topics demonstrates Morocco’s political courage to engage in deep debates concerning women’s rights within the family, affirming that the Kingdom remains ready to revise its legal framework to further strengthen social equity.
