Equipment and materials intended for the holding of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank Group (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), held in Marrakech, will be reused for the fitting out of educational facilities affected by the Al Haouz earthquake, in accordance with the High Royal Orientations calling for support for those affected by this natural disaster, said the general coordinator of the organization of this event, Mohammed El Kharmoudi.

This decision comes pursuant to the High Royal Orientations calling on all stakeholders to provide the necessary support to citizens affected by the Al Haouz earthquake, and to find alternatives enabling all students in educational establishments affected by the earthquake to resume their studies, he added in a statement to the press on the sidelines of these Meetings.

Equipment and materials for the WB and IMF Annual Meetings will be reused and exploited as part of the work to refurbish schools affected by the earthquake, explained El Kharmoudi.

The swift and effective response of the Moroccan authorities to the earthquake of September 8 was highly commended by many of the economic players taking part in the Annual Meetings held in the Ochre City.

This major event, which brought together finance ministers and central bank governors from several countries, provided an opportunity for economic and financial decision-makers to address a number of important issues relating to financing policies, economic growth and climate change, among others.
