On the shores of the Strait, where the wind meets the sea, the Royal Yacht Club of Tangier prepares to celebrate its centenary — a hundred years of sailing, heritage, and international excellence.

To mark this historic milestone, the club will host two major international nautical events in October 2025, blending sport, environmental awareness, and human values.

Under the auspices of the Royal Moroccan Sailing Federation, this event will bring together the best young sailors from Morocco and around the world, highlighting Tangier’s ongoing commitment to nurturing future generations of navigators.

Copa Del Estrecho 2025 (October 23–26, 2025)

At the same time, the third edition of the Copa Del Estrecho Sport Fishing Tournament will gather over 250 participants and 63 boats from Morocco, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Turkey — a symbol of maritime brotherhood and cooperation across the Mediterranean.

This centenary edition emphasizes sustainability through two key initiatives:

  • A strategic artificial reef program developed in partnership with the National Institute for Fisheries Research and Abdelmalek Essaâdi University.
  • The “See a Waste, Pick it Up” campaign, encouraging all participants to clean up the sea, with a special prize for the largest waste collection

“The Copa Del Estrecho perfectly reflects our century-old values,” said the Club President. “Every catch becomes a gesture of generosity, as all fish caught are donated to local orphanages.

The public is invited to attend the trophy ceremony on October 25 at 4:00 PM, followed by an educational exhibition presenting the club’s innovative artificial reef project — a living testimony to Tangier’s environmental commitment.

A hundred years of waves, wind, and passion… and a new voyage begins.
